Representative Director, SKWAT

Keisuke Nakamura

Founder of the architecture firm DAIKEI MILLS. He has worked on a wide range of projects, from commercial spaces to public facilities. His design consistently explores the relationship between people and space. Nakamura creates site-specific spaces that could only exist in that place. In 2020 he launched SKWAT, a social program that temporarily occupies unused facilities and opens them up for public use. Since 2021 he has also been a part-time lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Environmental Design at Tama Art University.

CHIEF PRODUCER

We are extending the philosophy of NOT A HOTEL beyond individual buildings to the scale of entire cities and regions. We seek to reimagine the "negative space"—underutilized areas found within the urban fabric—as venues where new culture, experiences, and communities can flourish. Moving beyond mere interim-use projects, we are engaging in diverse placemaking initiatives across Japan that unlock the unique charm and potential of specific sites and regions. We handle the entire process—from conceptualization and business planning to the design of spaces and experiences, development, and operations.
